Who is this course for?
People wanting to study the Sciences at the same depth and challenge as an N5 course but without a final exam. It gives a good level of practical experience while allowing progression to further Science qualifications.

In S2 October tracking, having secured:
Level 02.B - Some benchmarks achieved at L3 or better in Science
Tell me some basic information about the course
Pupils will undertake a range of tasks across the three Science areas incorporating practical work and research tasks to further develop skills and understanding. Pupils will be asked to apply the skills learned in the primer sections to apply their knowledge and skills to a problem scenario. This will involve using both their research and practical skills.
The course aims to develop knowledge in all three Sciences, develop laboratory skills, deepen understanding of Health & Safety and prepare candidates for working in a science environment. The course has 4 units: Introductory Biology; Chemical Changes & Structure; Waves & Radiation and Laboratory Science: Practical Skills.
What Skills will I develop?
Practical skills, data interpretation and production, scientific reporting, researching, experimental design, lab safety
How will I be assessed?
Course assessment consists of end of unit assessments, successfully complete at least one experimental
write-up per unit and maintain a folio of evidence relating to classwork and practicals.
