Who is this course for?
In S3 and S4 all pupils study English or another literacy route based on their prior attainment.
What Entry Requirements are there?,
In S2 October tracking, having secured:
Level 01 - First Level achieved or better in English
Tell me some basic information about the course
Pupils will study a substantial work or collection of literature in order to develop understanding,
analysis and evaluation skills. Pupils will also create a range of texts.
Building on literacy skills, the course develops understanding of language through the study of a
wide range of texts. The course develops reading, writing, talking and listening skills: allowing pupils to analyse and create a range of texts.
What Skills will I develop?
This course gives students the tools they need to develop their Literacy skillset essential for life beyond school. Over the course of the year, students will also develop critical thinking by analysing a range of texts and will also have opportunities to demonstrate their leadership skills and creativity.
How will I be assessed?
In Course Assessment for National 5:
Component 1 (70%): 2 Exam Papers (RUAE and Critical Reading)
Component 2 (30%): Portfolio of writing

National 4 --> National 5 --> Higher English --> Advanced Higher English
