Who is this course for?
Pupils who have a keen interest in Physical Education and sport, and pupils who would like to understand more about developing their performance in physical activities. Pupils will be required to participate in Physical Education several times per week (in addition to Core Physical Education) so will need to be organised and ready to participate every day.

In S2 October tracking, having secured:
Level 02.D - Almost all benchmarks achieved at L3 or better in PE
Tell me some basic information about the course
Pupils will, through a range of core physical activities, investigate and develop ways of improving their practical performance. Pupils will plan, carry out and evaluate a “one-off” practical performance conducted under demanding conditions in an activity of their choice (chosen from the activities offered as part of the course). Pupils will be introduced to the physical, mental, social and emotional factors which impact on performance in physical activities. They will gather data on these factors
and analyse the impact(s) on their own performance in a range of activities.
In S4 Learners will develop a range of movement and performance. Learners will explore and develop their knowledge of factors that impact on personal performance in physical activities. Learners will record, monitor and reflect on their own performance. Learners will plan, implement and evaluate a Personal Development Programme to focus on improving aspects of their performance in a chosen activity.
Pupils should be aware that Swimming is one of the core activities in this course.

How will I be assessed?
Course Assessment is completed via two
methods:
1. Two “one-off” Practical Performances, in activities of the learner’s choice (chosen from activities offered as part of the course) (50%); and
2. A Portfolio, completed over time in class (50%)
