Studying at a University (Higher Education or HE) allows you to develop your knowledge and skills to a high academic standard.
Initially you would start as an undergraduate, and normally study for between 3 and 4 years before graduating with a degree (SCQF Level 9 or 10).
Some careers require you to have a university degree.
After graduating, some people continue at university as a post graduate student (SCQF Level 11 or 12).
To go to university you normally need to apply through an organisation called UCAS.
UCAS consider there to be more than 50,000 courses in over 25 subject areas you can study at a British university.
