Ideally, learners should have some degree of aptitude for, and a genuine interest in, photography, that can be nurtured and developed either in a freestanding unit-by-unit basis and/or throughout the group award.. .

The National Progression Award (NPA) in Photography is designed to develop your knowledge and understanding in practical photography, and is aimed at those who may want to explore their interest in the subject and perhaps progress to more advanced studies at a later stage.
What Skills will I develop?
During the course you will learn a range of photography skills, techniques and digital editing processes in order to develop your creativity and technical skills. The course also enables you to understand photographic work to a more in-depth level, to evaluate your own work and the work of others.
How will I be assessed?
In order to achieve the full L5 NPA Award the learner has to successfully achieve the four mandatory units with evidence based coursework. The units can be also be awarded as stand alone units Assessment will be a combination of practical and knowledge assessments under closed and open-book assessment conditions.
If I was successful in this course, what qualifications could I go on and study?
The NPA could be used as a direct progression into the Creative Industries subjects, Higher Photography Courses or as a basis to apply for an HNC in Photography.
What kind of career pathways could this qualification help me with?
Further study could then lead to employment in a range of careers including self-employment, animation, web design, advertising, graphic design, film, TV, photographic roles such as advertising, corporate, fashion, press, editorial etc.
